No.5 復活と再生 /Resurrection and rebirth

ドットが粗く汚れた写真はまさにその日の

気分を表してくれることがある。

それをフォトショップで一つ一つ手間をかけて消す時の退屈な流作業は私のメンタルに応じて

時折苛立ちを覚えさせることもあり

私の機嫌がよければそれはスムースに

私の心がブルーであれば全てを投げ出してしまうぐらい憂鬱な作業と化してしまいます。

今日、わたしはこの写真についたゴミを掃除しなかった。

この写真は今から20年と少し前、下北沢の雑貨店で見つけ購入した古い映画のスチールのレプリカで、私はもう長らくこの写真を自分のクローゼットに貼ったまま、いつも見ているような、見ていないような状態にしているのです。

昨年末、久しぶりにこの写真の主人公である彼女の視線を感じ、フィルムで撮影し現像したのでした。

その時ついたゴミを、そのままにし、わたしは取り除かなかった。

写真のジーンセバーグはタバコを口に咥えている。

そしてわたしを上目遣いで眺める。

左目はほぼ隠れてしまっている。

右目だけが大きく見開いてみえる。

そこについたわたしのゴミは、この映画の１ページを少しだけ汚してしまっている。

でもなんだかそれが、妙に心地良かった。

タイトルは復活と再生と書いたのに、まだまだその道のりは遠い気がする。

とりあえず今、時計の針は３時１３分。

皆が寝静まっているはずの時間に、わたしは起きているのです。

Sometimes it can be frustrating

If I'm in a good mood it goes smoothly

If I'm feeling blue, it becomes such a depressing task that I want to give up on everything.

I didn't clean the dirt off this photo today.

This photograph is a replica of an old film still photo that I found and purchased at a general store in Shimokitazawa a little over 20 years ago, and I have had it stuck in my closet for a long time, in a state where I was constantly looking at it, but at the same time I was not really interested in it.

At the end of last year, I felt the gaze of the girl in this photograph for the first time in a long time, so I took a picture of her on film and had it developed.

I left the trash on the surface of the picuture and didn't remove it.

In this photo, Jean Seberg is holding a cigarette in her mouth.

Then she looks up at me.

The left eye is almost completely covered.

Only the right eye appears to be wide open.

The trash I left there has slightly tarnished one page of the film.

But somehow it felt strangely comfortable.

Although the title says "revival and rebirth," I feel like there is still a long way to go.

Right now, the clock says 3:13.

I'm awake when everyone else is supposed to be asleep.
